Hailing from New Jersey, Jasmine Carmichael obtained her BFA from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. She also studied at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London, where she discovered and nurtured her love of classical text. She made her professional debut starring as Juliet in the indie feature Romeo and Juliet in Harlem opposite Harry Lennix and Aunjanue Ellis. She is best known for her portrayal of the alluring con artist Gina, working opposite Giovanni Ribisi in Amazon's Sneaky Pete, and her star turn as Dominique ‘the Dame’ West in Real Talk. She has also guest-starred in multiple TV shows, including The Equalizer, Blue Bloods, Chicago P.D., and Law & Order: SVU . Regional acting credits include the IRNE award winning production of Milk Like Sugar (Huntington Theatre Company) and the world premiere of Nambi E Kelley’s adaptation of Toni Morrison’s Jazz, directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah (Baltimore Center Stage).
Jasmine's work as an actress, director and teaching artist is rooted in the belief that art has the power to influence and inspire real change. She fundamentally believes that it is the artist's responsibility to tell each story with honesty and vulnerability so that others can be moved.
